Large DT Calcite xl (Trimingham Coll.)

Item Description

A large, striking calcite with unusual form and color from this famous extinct uranium mine. The impressive, 7.2 x 5.7 x 5.0 cm, doubly terminated rhomb is lustrous, translucent with frosted/etched faces and is an interesting cloudy khaki color with hematite highlights. Smaller calcites surround the sculptural piece and the matrix is greenstone. Tiny secondary calcite scalenohedrons cover much of the back. A rare and desirable large calcite varietal from this noted locale from the Bob Trimingham Collection. Formerly in the Robert Nowakowski Collection, according to Bob's label.
