Item Description
A striking LARGE CABINET cluster of intergrown crystals from a NEW FIND in the Fall of 2009 from Kenya. Nearly all of the crystals are doubly terminated. The terminations are quite glassy and the faces are razor-sharp. A very interestingly shaped, doubly terminated sidecar crystal is attached to one side and the other side has an amethyst crystal perpendicular to the cluster!. The amethystine color ranges from pretty, intense purple to nearly colorless. One area is smoky and has intense stepped-growth. Skeletal features and the stepped-growth really add character to this impressive piece. The striking multiple termination is nearly pristine, with only a trivial bit of edgewear. The lower termination is also very nearly pristine. The stepped-growth, smoky side is partially coated with feldspar. The side with the perpendicular amethyst is partially contacted, but is a minor detraction to the overall striking impact of this monster. These are impressive, pretty and large crystals from Africa! Not Bolivia, Brazil or Uruguay. 4.6 pounds or 2.1 kilos
