Large Dolomite plate (RARE style - old classic)

An old, very rich, large RARE style dolomite plate from one of the many famous mines of Cumbria. Two types of translucent dolomite comprise this impressive plate. First came the large rhombs, to 3.2 cm, with striking highly lustrous, silvery stepped-growh faces. A second generation of grayish-tan stepped-growth rhombs preferentially cover the large rhombs. The complex form, variable luster and color of the crystals makes for a significant, important, RARE and pristine old-time large dolomite. From an East Coast collection and comes with a faded and torn century-old label. Possibly from early workings in the Beckermet Mine, that opened in 1903. A MUST for the species or locality collector!
