Large Dolomite on Quartz (classic locale)

Straw-yellow, oxide-tinted dolomite rhombs dramatically, preferentially, richly coat one side of the quartz crystals and the entire matrix plate on this impressive and sculptural large combination from the historic mines at Cavnic. The striking, isolated, sharply terminated glassy quartz points reach 4.5 cm and the dolomite also coats large calcite rhombs on the plate. Very interesting crystal chemistry and fluid flow here! The bottom of the plate is interesting in itself, as you can see casts of dissolved quartz or calcite crystals. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only trivial bruise to the tip of one of the secondary quartz crystals. An outstanding and classic large combination from Cavnic.
