Scintillating, gemmy, rich emerald-green dioptase microcrystals cover most of this very impressive, large undulating plate. RARE, this striking large dioptase plate is from 1980s finds at the famous Morenci Mine. Dioptase is rare from Morenci and other Arizona locales and is among the largest and richest such examples from a US locality we have seen. The sturdy, lightweight sawed gossan specimen has a mass of only 702 grams or 1.5 pounds. A plate of this size is hard to come by, nearly unprecedented. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011. Valued at $2500. A MUST for the locality or species collector! The crystals are emerald-green, not blue as the photos show. The video reflects a truer hue.
