Item Description
The finest danburites in the world come from Charcas, Mexico and this is a large example from a recent 2008 find. The colorless, glassy, highly lustrous, translucent, tapered crystal has a sharp, gemmy termination and is strikingly, preferentially sheathed on two faces with sparkly, snow-white, quartz crystals. The association adds a nice accent. There is even a single, cute amethyst crystal in the field. The size of the crystal is very large, ranking it up there with the antique Russian danburites (which are opaque and chalky anyhow) and WAY BEYOND most Charcas material. Complete all-around and essentially pristine (only barely noticeable bruising to the quartz field, and exceedingly trivial danburite side wear). Valued $1000-1250, for the unprecedented size and quality. Ex Dave Stoudt Mexico Collection.
