Item Description
A sculptural and hefty CABINET specimen of classic Cobalt silver showing the hackly and bright look that makes them very collectible and identifiable. Two sculptural vugs in the highly lustrous, massive, microcrystalline, silver-gray, matrix of rich cobalt/silver ore are richly lined with hackly silver. The silver leaf in the frontal vug and the thin greenstone "cap" across the top of the piece add much character. This extremely rich ore specimen could have come out anywhere in the heyday of this mine, which operated from 1907 to 1940. It came through the noted John Durkos Collection to the Robert Hauck Silver Collection. This massive and showy piece weighs 1315 grams or 2.9 pounds. A major old Canadian silver, yes, but also just a big crystallized silver in ore, period! Valued at $1500-1750.
