Item Description
This is a large, small melon-sized flaoter specimen of creedite, complete all around and nearly pristine, with very few broken crystals. It is shaped like a giant, slightly flattened orange egg, and has sharp, pointy crystals to over 1 cm sticking out all over. The lone gemmy spire is 1.3 cm. With the intense color, the creedites from this find of August 2009 really redefine what one can expect to own at a good price for the species. Although this locality has produced much creedite in the past, a recent exploraiton tunnel driven to a deeper level of the mine found 2 pockets with this intense color, which is quite above the normal quality of past finds. That entry has now collapsed, and it seems unlikely it can be economically redeveloped, making these relative bargains now perhaps something to put away for later years when they will surely be scarce. I bought a large portion of the find, and a piece like this would normally be valued at around $1500-1750. I would have PAID about $800 for it, even in the context of a wholesale lot deal from the source. 672 grams
