A killer large copper "skull" from the historic mines of the Keweenaw Peninsula. This stunning, incredibly sculptural well-formed 360-degree piece has dramatic deep walls with a mellow copper patina. The rugged outer surface of the skull is a fine complement to this outstanding bowl-like specimen. This was a large rock cobble, that the molten copper flowed around and then the rock inside was subsequently dissolved away - a strange and unusual Michigan copper district oddity! Old-time large copper skulls with impressive form are rare and highly desirable. This is easily the largest very fine copper skull we have offered at auction.
