Item Description
A fantastically shaped and RARE style large two-sided specimen of solid sheet copper from the historic Calumet & Hecla Mine of Copper Country. Striking, sculptural enechelon copper ripples with a nice patina course across both sides of this impressive piece. The holes and bit of embedded basalt matrix on both sides adds character. The artistic top line and one end are in great shape, with the bottom and part of the other end having been sawed. The famed large C & H Mine opened prior to 1871 and operated until 1968 (MINDAT). An exceptional, rare style large copper from the locale from the R.D. Mushlitz Collection. Mass is 700 grams or 1.5 pounds.
