Item Description

An immensely sculptural, large crystallized copper specimen from the well-known Emke Mine. This striking piece looks like a sea serpent or dragon with a weird nose, frilled head and huge curved swishing tail! The whole piece has striking, very elongated spinel-twinned form, with the individual crystals being sharp to sub-hedral, tetrahexahedrons. The underside of the "body" is impressively crystallized. The patina is dramatically variable, with: cuprite coating; highly variable coppery patinas; and malachite encrustations. A fabulous, important and rare floater from the Dr. Eugene Sensel Collection. Valued at $3500.
