Item Description
A sculptural large old-time sheet copper from one of the famous mines of Copper Country in Houghton County. The matte lustre curved copper has a surreal overall spinel-twinned shape, that is hard to define with the appendages and holes. Matrix crust covers much of the front of the piece. Most of the piece is uncrystallized, except for one sharp face and edge in the center of the piece. Ex Dan Behnke Collection of Chicago. Dan is a very well-known micromounter and is a member of the Micro Hall of Fame. He also specialized in Michigan species. A very showy and classic large old-time copper from the Upper Peninsula.
