Item Description

Sculptural and classic large crystallized copper from famous Ajo and the Kay Robertson Collection. The striking elongated, flattened, two-sided arborescent specimen has an overall spinel-twinned form. The stacked crystal cluster includes a few extremely sharp tetrahexahedral crystals with the mostly subhedral to hackly tetrahexahedrons and spinel-twins. The variably hued cuprite coating adds color and pizzazz to this fine example. Ajo specimens are far less common from those from Bisbee or Morenci and other famous Arizona localities. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). valued $1500
