Item Description

Collinsite is a rare hydrated phosphate and this striking, rare and large specimen is from the famed Rapid Creek area in Canada. Lustrous, thin, green-tinted blades of glassy collinsite to a large 1.7 cm form attractive radiating sprays on both the front and back of the shale matrix. This is an extremely rich and large specimen of this rare phosphate. Most worldwide occurrences of this mineral are as radial fibrous balls embedded in matrix, so actual crystals are quite rare, except for from this area. Ex Robert Whitmore Collection # 427. According to his card, he paid $425 for this in 1994. We believe this is $900-1200 today as it is super-rich, and very large and impressive for the species
