Item Description
Highly unusual, colorful and large cobaltoan calcite from the Aghbar Mine at Bou Azzer. The sculptural plate is covered with pretty orchid-pink, different looking, rounded, translucent frosted scalenohedrons with satin luster faces. The weird accessories are the second generation, lighter pink, nubby stalactites (helectites?), that connect from scalenohedron to scalenohedron. The one broken stalactite reveals the darker filled tube, where the the precipitating fluids flowed. The underlying sawed matrix is coarsely granular dolomite above massive gray-white quartz. Certainly a fascinating and strange looking large cobaltoan calcite from this locale. The piece displays well without aid. valued $1500
