important old classic Stibnite on Baryte - ex Obodda

Impressive, very rich and sculptural large stibnite from this well-known extinct polymetallic Romanian mine. Stout lustrous, striated terminated blades, to about 2.6 cm, are richly and attractively strewn on the contrasting barite matrix plate. An area of bruised crystals on the upper left and few other scattered broken prisms are noted, but this remains a striking, rich and excellent large combination example of the species and locale. Ex Herb Obodda and collected in the mid-1980s. Herb valued this piece at $1200 - over 13 years ago per his label. It is worth more today, as a cabinet specimen from this rare old locale.
