Large classic Barite

Barite is a classic species, along with stibnite, from the well-known Baia Sprie Mine. SELDOM, though, will you see a piece of this impressive large size! It is big and gorgeous, and looks like sparkling glass. The sculptural piece is solid crystallized barite of two generations. Tan, bladed, barite rosettes are richly covered by very glassy, transparent, colorless rosettes. The density of glassy barite is much greater on the front and adds much drama. This very high quality large piece is from the Howard Belsky Collection and dates to the mine"s heyday in the 1970s and 80s. Howard passed away in 1987. This specimen was valued at $3000
