Item Description
Amazing and striking natural radiation spots (causing smoky quartz in a sphere of alteration around some natural, "hot" inclusion) stand out at the base of this impressive large citrine specimen from Galileia. Citrines are extremely rare from this area of Minas Gerais and this is an outstanding large example, especially with the radiation spots as a bonus to talk about. Usually a quartz is all smoky, from outside radiation. this crystal, however, formed around some natural inclusions, perhaps microlite, that had enough power in them to convert part of the crystal surrounding them, into smoky quartz. The crystal is a water-clear gem, with rich golden-yellow color. Most of the prism and termination faces are lightly frosted and have nifty stepped-growth, with a couple of the faces being glass-smooth and clear. Complete all-around and actually nearly pristine. The termination and sides have only the most trivial of bruising and the contacted back is essentially damage-free, with intense stepped-growth. The broken contact is at the base. Comes with a custom-made and engraved lucite base valued at $200, for free. Valued at $2000 and worth it, for rarity, quality and size.
