Large Chalcedony stalactites

An impressive and aesthetic diverging cluster of large parallel-growth, multi-hued and multi-layered, translucent and nubby chalcedony stalactites from a recent find in Java, Indonesia. The "petals" at the top look like capitals at the top of Greek or Roman temple columns! This large piece contacted both the base and roof of the cave as the ends reveal the hollow tubes, where the silica-rich solutions flowed to form the stalactites.The scattered knobs add character. This one has colors from tan to lavender. Pristine, except for modest bruising on the back side. Dramatic, colorful and unusual material from an exotic locale for mineral specimens! We have seen similar sold at Tucson recently as "Fossil Bamboo" in the $1500-2500 range.
