Item Description

Impressive and sculptural large cerussite from the famed Broken Hill deposit. Striking diverging jackstraw sprays of tinted tapered acicular prisms are dramatically clustered on the large swirled platy Fe- or Mg-oxide matrix plate. The fantastic prisms reach 5.5 cm. In outstanding shape, with very few broken crystals. There is more cerussite on the contacted back, as a bonus. These were probably recovered from the late 1970s to early 80s finds in the Blackwood open cut of the Broken Hill South Mine. See the outstanding 1982 Minerals of Broken Hill book edited by Worner and Mitchell, Pages 100 and 104. Rare style highly desirable Broken Hill cerussite valued at $2000.
