Item Description

An impressive, large and rare celestine crystal from this less well-known silica quarry, near Detroit, Michigan. The well-formed, sharp, tabular very glassy crystal is transparent to translucent with pretty blue-gray to colorless sections. One edge has dramatic sharks teeth terminations, with texbook chisel terminations noted on the other edges. The striking embedded smaller celestine and preferential druze of tiny dogteeth calcite crystals on the back adds pizzazz to this exceptional and rare large celestine from this locale. Complete all-around and very nearly pristine. The bit of embedded calcite noted on the termination edges and the one small termination edge bruise certainly have only minimal impact to the overall very high quality of this large and rare celestine. Ex Robert Nowakowski Collection and collected in 1981. valued $1250
