Item Description

This impressive and sculptural large vug is filled with beautiful, gemmy, very glassy ice-blue celestine prisms from the famous Sakoany deposit of Madagascar. The large crystal on the lower right with the textbook chisel termination is 2.5 cm across. All of the myriad of crystals in the interior are pristine and the noted periphery is certainly acceptable in the context of extracting these geodes. See the 2010 Mineralogical Record article in Vol. 41, No. 5. Sakoany celestines are certainly among the finest in the world. A rich and very showy, highly representative large celestine from the locale. Ex Taylor Hunt Collection. 2701 grams or 5.9 pounds mass. Although common in low quality, this is one of higher quality in terms of color and luster.
