Item Description

An impressive, large, highly sculptural and rare style of cave calcite from the famous mines at Naica. This imposing piece is composed of striking stacked clusters of intergrown dogtooth calcite crystals. The very highly lustrous, glassy, translucent crystals are colorless to a pleasing light straw-yellow oxide tint. One end is bruised and the periphery wear on one side is on the back. This fine and rare piece looks great all by itself. Ex Art Soregaroli Collection. His label says aragonite, but MINDAT does not list the species for Naica. RARE calcite in this quality and size. Valued at $300-400.
