Item Description
A RARE and impressive large nodule of "stream or wood tin" cassiterite, probably from this famed old Bolivian silver mine. The sculptural, rich brown, highly lustrous, layered nodule (resembling wood layers) was rounded by alluvial (river) forces into its present form. The sawed base reveals the layering of the nodule. Rare, undoubtedly old-time material, but no proof. Ex Kay Robertson Collection, with no collection number. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). 533 grams or 1.2 pounds mass.
