Large Calcite w/ phantoms (Whitmore Coll.)

A spectacular large cluster of calcite scalenohedrons from the famous Sweetwater Mine. All of the lustrous translucent crystals have fabulous phantoms of an earlier generation of calcite scalenohedrons, that have a chalcopyrite or marcasite coating. Gemmy calcite later overgrew these crystals. The large crystal termination is pristine. The superior aesthetics of this 360-degree piece far out weigh the modest bruising to the tips of five of the six side car crystals and three small spots of scuffing on a side and edge.
