Large Calcite w/ Baryte (Sanabria Coll.)

Item Description

Sharp, glassy, translucent, colorless dogtooth calcite scalenohedrons, to 6.5 cm, are dramatically clustered, jackstraw-style on the limestone matrix plate on this sculptural and impressive large specimen from this noted Asturias mine. Patches of small, glassy, blue barite blades along two edges are fine and typical accessories. Periphery wear, a bit of bruising and some cleaved calcites are noted, but this remains a classic, dramatic and excellent large example from this famous locale. Mass is 1587 grams or 3.5 pounds mass.
