Large Calcite & Quartz geode (Trimingham Coll.)

Item Description

An impressive, large and old specimen of dramatically stacked, graduated in size, lustrous and translucent, large nailhead calcite rhombs, to 8.0 cm, in a quartz-lined geode from St. Francisville, Missouri. The large rhomb has just a bit of edge wear. Geodes of the size and quality probably date to the 1960s and are seldom available. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection and formerly in the Paul Patchick Collection, according to Bob's label. 5.5 pounds or 2.5 kilos. Value??
