Item Description

Calcite specimens are RARE and mineral specimens of any variety are very uncommon from this obscure limestone quarry and nearby localities. Two generations of glassy, gemmy to translucent scalenohedrons are dramatically festooned on the large sculptural triangular limestone matrix plate. Larger light amber crystals, to 3.8, are aesthetically clustered along one edge of the plate covered with smaller, gemmier, near colorless crystals. In great shape, overall. Gentle bruising to a couple of the large crystal tips and a modest bit of periphery are noted, but certainly have minimal impact to the overall high quality of this large and rich rarity. This is an outstanding and rare large calcite from this locality from the Allen Penick Collection. Valued by the former dealer at $350. A MUST for the species or locality collector.
