Item Description
A dramatically sculptural large old-time calcite rhomb from this well-known Oklahoma Tri-State mine. This very glassy, translucent crystal is two-toned. Some exterior faces are colorless, like ice or glass, with most of the piece being olive-green. The noteworthy sculptural features include the monolithic conning tower, the amazing indented stepped-growth faces in the center and the curved face on the right, which is richly included with tiny sparkly mascasite crystals. In super shape overall, for such a large and unusual crystal. The topline and curved right side are pristine. Most of the striking front is pristine, except for the cleave on the bottom. The left side and back are cleavages. This is a stunning and important large calcite from this historic locale. Ex Tom Wolfe Calcite Collection. A must for the species or locality collector. This is an uncommon calcite form for Cherokee County.
