Item Description
A dramatic and outstanding, LARGE CABINET, matrix calcite specimen from the 2nd Sovietskiy Mine at Dal'negorsk. The huge, colorless, translucent, flattened, rhomb has striking stepped-growth and light frosting on the side faces, while the edge faces are interestingly, glassy and water-clear. The rhomb is in excellent shape, for such a large crystal. A bit of edgewear on one side and a contact at the base of the crystal on the other side are noted, but are certainly a very modest detraction. Collected in 2005, according to the label. Super pink fluorescence! Valued at $1250-1500 and worth it. Large Dal'negorsk matrix calcites of this size and quality are uncommon today.
