Dramatic, sculptural and rare style large calcite on dolomite from the famous iron mines at Frizington. A fanciful, 9.8 cm "flower" of opposing clusters of striking, tapering stepped-growth, elongated nailhead calcite rhombs is artistically set on the matrix plate covered with lustrous, light brown oxide-tinted, saddle-shaped dolomite rhombs. Old material from an East Coast collection and comes with a faded century-old label. Calcite of this style is RARE from here and the "flower" is pristine. valued $900-1200
