Item Description
An impressive, sculptural rabbit's ears pair of large sharp calcite scalenohedrons from the historic Joplin Field. The striking sharply terminated pretty amber crystals, to 12.5 cm, are translucent with satin luster faces. The unsual internal layering and stepped-growth faces add much pizzazz. The crystals are complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only barely noticeable bruising to both crystal tips. The contacting at the base and cleaved crystal on one side are certainly acceptable in the context of this classic old-timer. The matrix shard of chert on the back is a typical accessory. From an East Coast collection.
