Surreal large 360-degree multi-generational calcite from recent finds at this well-known skarn type iron-copper mine, famous for calcites of this style, plus world-class Manganoan Calcite, Hubeite (Type Locality) and Inesite specimens. Three impressive, sculptural large parallel-growth scalenohedrons with stepped-growth faces dominate the piece and are accompanied by two smaller, nearly entirely overgrown scalenohedrons. The three large spikes have a colorful orange-brown iron-oxide coating, with the backside of the large spike having a striking platy hematite overgrowth. Fantastic glassy, nearly transparent nail head calcite rhombs, to 3.3 cm, are dramatically, preferentially attached to the three large calcite spikes. Colorless, stepped-growth nail head rhombs cover the lower front of the piece, with glassy, oxide-tinted, stepped-growth nail head rhombs covering much of one side and the lower back of the piece. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only a gently bruised tip to the large scalenohedron and trivial periphery wear, lower on the piece. An exceptional large and very artistic, multi-generational calcite of this unique style and locale. Valued at $2000-2500.
