Item Description

Brucite from the Wood's Chrome Mine is an early U.S. classic mineral species, with fine specimens produced from the 1830s to the mine closing in 1881. Very sharp, translucent, pastel-green to colorless, typically bladed and disc-like crystals to 3.0 cm with waxy luster of this rarely crystallized species cover the thin laminated chromite ore matrix. This specimen is notable for the locality and is a displayable, somewhat attractive piece as well. These specimens often are dear to collectors of antique US minerals and localities. From a major rarities collection. Valued at $1000 for size, rarity and quality.
