Bizarre looking large 360-degree knob of many intergrown, multi-hued malachite botryoids from this famed DR Congo mine. The striking, sloped top with the impressive large botryoids is highlighted by the light green malachite atop the dark green botryoids. The stunning number of smaller botryoids around the base adds an additional amazing aspect to the piece. Pristine, except for the modest contacting on one side of the base, which is certainly acceptable in the context of this remarkable malachite. It resembles the head or skull of a green alien or insect. Mass is 1282 grams or 2.8 pounds. This well-known copper-cobalt deposit is extinct commercially, but artisanal mining by locals has recovered more fine specimens. Certainly an exceptional malachite from the renowned Star of Congo Mine.
