large botryoidal "grape" Amethyst

Pretty light lavender, translucent amethyst botryoids with mostly sparkly frosted surfaces and one area with matte surfaces cover this impressive, large and sculptural mounded solid crust from recent finds in Indonesia. These have caused a major stir at recent shows and are certainly beautiful and artistically fine specimens. Nearly a floater, with only one small attachment on the left end and a trivial bit of bruising on both ends. Analysis by Dr. George Rossman at Caltech concluded these should be labeled as amethyst, and not chalcedony or agate. An artistic and rich large example. There are many on the market, but this is a particularly showy large mounded example with multiple dispay views! Valued at $1750-2250.
