Large biomorphic Copper ex Gary Weaver Coll. (4 pounds!)

Item Description

Dramatically sculptural large old-time two-sided native copper from the Keweenaw. The hackly copper has an interesting variable patina and the embedded greenstone basalt matrix with quartz and a few small patches of epidote add much contrast and character. The striking upper portion above the massive body looks like the head of a vulture with a distinctive curved beak! This large floater copper specimen was probably dissolved out of the enclosing matrix. Hefty at 1751 grams or 3.9 pounds mass. An impressive and artistic large biomorphic copper "art piece" from the historic Copper Country. Som efolks in the office prefer it vertical with teh big showy copper mass on top - but the vote was split on which way looks best. either way, is beautiful!
