Item Description

A stunning large bi-colored tourmaline from the major find about 5 years ago at this famous Maine locale. The amazing staggered, multiple, parallel-growth, pyramidal terminations have lustrous, dark olive-green to black faces, which cap the fabulous, transparent to translucent vivid apple-green section. Backlighting really brings out the gorgeous green color! A partial, near colorless section grades into starkly contrasting, translucent, vibrant raspberry-red at the base. Most large pieces from this find, such as this, where broken by tectonic forces in the pocket and 2 (tight, lock-fit) repairs are noted, with minor restoration in the middle repair. This is a large, extremely fine and colorful example from this major East Coast find. Valued at $4000. Our major "spiker" for this auction.
