Item Description
A dramatic, large 209 gram, bi-colored tourmaline from Pech. The crystal started as a single crystal, and as it grew it split into multiple terminations that splay apart and get broader towards the termination at top - very impressive! This is technically a watermelon tourmaline, as a gemmy green outer layer covers the very glassy, well-striated crystal. The interior is translucent. The lower 7 cm is a rich pink, followed by a very light green zone. The multiple, partially gemmy terminations are a pretty apple-green and the terminantion faces are pastel-pink, adding much contrast and character. A striking 360-degree complete all-around crystal. Very trivial bruising to termination edges is noted. Some broken tips to side car crystals are noted, but are out-of-sight in favored viewing orientations. This is a classic and lovely large example of the modern Pech tourmalines! It is a bit beyond the average quality because of the fine and glassy terminations and size. A piece like this should be valued at $4500-5000, I think quite reasonably, at any show or dealer. I could see it going quite higher, for that matter.
