Item Description
Impressive and sculptural large plate of densely intergrown bi-colored purple fluorite cubes from the famous Cave-in-Rock area of the Southern Illinois Fluorite District. The striking satin lustre, stepped-growth cubes, 4.6 cm, have beautiful violet transparent to translucent areas with subtle edge phantoms and scattered darker purple interiors. The preferential black bitumen coatings add much character to this fine and rich large Illinois fluorite plate. The interior is essentially pristine, with only trivial edge wear along the outside edges, and it is big and showy. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection and acquired in 1997.
