Item Description
Old-time Cruziero tourmalines from the 1960s and 1970s, besides being beautiful and gemmy, were often very unusual. This striking large prism certainly fits the unusual, but very showy, category. The parallel-growth, tapered crystal cluster is very glassy, well-striated, has a variable amount of gemmy translucence and is strikingly multi-colored. The fascinating, multi-faceted, pinacoidal termination is deep honey-brown surrounded by honey-yellow to olive-green tips. A dark olive-green section follows, that has beautiful flashes of light olive-green gemminess under bright light. A gemmy bottle-green section follows and the basal 3.0 cm is a pretty teal blue. One prism face is festooned with tiny, gemmy, olive-green elbaites. This impressive large elbaite is complete all-around and pristine. Every turn presents a different prospective! This is a classic, old-time, highly unusual, but very fine large tourmaline from this renowned locale. Ex. Art Soregaroli Collection. 147 grams mass. Valued at $2500-3000 for size and fine unusual quality.
