Large Baveno-twin Orthoclase xl (Orellana Coll.)

Item Description

Orthoclase specimens of this size and quality are very uncommon from the pegmatites of this area and this is an outstanding example. The impressive, large, moderately lustrous, pretty pastel-pink complete all-around crystal is an extremely sharp, well-formed Baveno-twin. The two small crystal clusters on either side are mostly microcline crystals with one having quartz crystals and add shape and character. In very fine shape, overall. The two dings on one termination edge and the contact on the prism edge, where another crystal once lay, but with very minimal bruising are noted, but have negligible impact to the high quality of this excellent large orthoclase crystal from the Raul Orellana Collection. The piece was collected in September, 2000.
