Large Baryte on Quartz (Bob Reynolds Coll.)

Item Description

A fantastic looking large 360-degree barite on quartz from recent finds at Jinkouhe, China. A dense forest of glassy, transparent quartz points, to about 8.0 cm has a striking rich preferential overgowth of small cream-colored barite blades. Beautiful, RARE for the locale, large translucent pale BLUE second generation barite spearpoints are dramatically clustered on the earlier quartz and small barite crystals with a surreal effect. The striking large barites reach 4.1 cm on edge. Complete all-around and essentially pristine. Amazing for a such a densely crystallized large specimen. Mass is 2982 grams or 6.6 pounds. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020. Value?? We have not seen another of this size, richness and combination quality.
