Item Description

Striking jackstraw clusters of sparkling, pearlescent, lamellar, barite blades form an impressive and sculptural large specimen from the famous Baia Sprie Mine of Romania. The glassy composite crystals are up to 4.3 cm across and many of the tips are water-clear on this dramatic piece. A few bruised crystals are noted, but is certainly acceptable for such size and rich coverage! Pieces of this size and quality came out in the 1980s, with none since. Valued at $800-1000 for size and quality. Ex Paul Zerfass Collection # 688. His label says Baia Mare (Herja Mine), but this fine large piece is probably from the Baia Sprie mine.
