Large matrix azurite on malachite specimens of this exceptional quality are rare from La Sal, as the azurite balls are nearly always matrix-free. Highly lustrous rosettes of bright, azure-blue, azurite blades, with desirable electric-blue highlights under bright light, are dramatically implaced on the very sturdy and sculptural, botryoidal solid malachite matrix. Even the isolated flattened rosette on the lower right "tail" of the matrix is exceptional in its pristine beauty. For the quality, size and rarity of a large combination like this, I feel that this is valued at $1500-2000 today. Azurite matrix specimens on malachite, and so balanced in large size, are very rare from here! And this has a color and 3-dimensionality that are impressive.
