Item Description

An absolutely stunning and sculptural gem pegmatite combination specimen from Pakistan with multiple gem species standing up proud: Front and center on the piece is a pair of gem, light sky-blue Aquamarine crystals along with a single, totally gem colorless Topaz crystal. The Aquamarines measure 3.5 and 3 cm, respectively that grow into each other slightly. The prism faces display a slightly satin luster, however, the flat, pinacoid terminations on both are super glassy, and looking right down the C-axis of each, the crystals are so glass-clear you can see all the way to the matrix! The same goes for the 3 cm Topaz and it's totally glassy and limpid/clean/transparent all the way around! Just exquisite! Three, snow-white Microcline crystals set off the piece dramatically. Small blades of bright white Albite festoon portions of some of the crystal faces on the big, 9.5 cm Microcline that is perfectly terminated ...and just happens to be a textbook Carlsbad twin! The adjacent, also bright white, 6 cm, Microcline crystal, which exhibits great perthitic intergrowths of Albite in the Microcline, is unterminated. There is a third, 4.5 cm, Microcline crystal on the other side of the piece that, remarkably, is a Baveno twin! Although it seems like these are accent species in most matrix specimens that host gem crystals, here the feldspars are part of the story as well. This is a subtle piece, the more you look and see detail. We have NEVER seen two Microcline twin types on the same piece of pegmatite matrix from Pakistan! Come to think of it, we cannot recall seeing a combination of two twins on the same matrix from anywhere, actually. The piece is framed by several terminated, translucent, ever so slightly smoky Quartz crystals to 7 cm. Lastly, this does not seem to be repaired - at least there is no repair we can find by eye or under UV light. A remarkably well-balanced, colorful, and aesthetic large cabinet pegmatite piece! Valued $10,000-$12500 compared to what is generally on the market. Combination pieces in such condition are rare in this size.
