Item Description

A killer rich large andradite garnet specimen from the well-known extinct Garnet Hill Mine. The HUGE for the locale highly lustrous, dodecahedral beveled by the trapezohedron crystals, to 5.0 cm, have gorgeous rich mahogany-brown to black faces. The many veinlets in the garnets and some embedded quartz add even more character. The matrix is solid granular andradite. This former W-Au-Cu-Mo skarn deposit mine was well-known for garnet and epidote crystals (MINDAT). Ex Chet Lemanski Collection and acquired at the 1999 Tucson Gem & Mineral Show banquet auction. Hefty andradite garnet at 2193 grams or 4.8 pounds. This impressive and exceptional large specimen with large crystals displays beautifully, as the base has been sawed.
