Item Description
A dramatic, large, compound smoky quartz/amethyst crystal cluster from a recent find in Summer of 2009 in Minas Gerais. A stunning, 360-degree cluster of glassy, transparent to translucent, variably smoky quartz/amethyst scepters (most doubly terminated) caps the very large, translucent, frosted, pseudohexagonal smoky quartz crystal. One side of the scepter is strikingly covered with more glassy smoky/amethyst crystals (some doubly terminated). These crystals have the striking "alligator" look, where the quartz crystals look like the large plates in an alligator"s hide. Most of the very glassy, transparent smoky/amethyst quartz crystals have distinctive darker crystal edges. This particular piece looks like a giant scepter, with gem points at the tip! Overall, this impressive, complete all-around, large piece is nearly pristine, with only trivial termination bruising at the top and one spot of contacting on the column near the top. Stunning material, and a superb and sharp piece of very high and select quality, that we picked from a large lot imported in mid-2009. MUCH, MUCH BETTER IN PERSON.
