Item Description
A remote region of Kenya has recently produced some stunning large amethyst specimens, as singles and very large clusters. This impressive large cluster has glassy, sharply terminated crystals with very pretty, blush grape-purple to lavender to colorless interiors and a hint of tan clay. Some crystals are doubly terminated and some have the striking "alligator hide" look. The crystals reach 14.5 cm (doubly terminated) and the fat single is 7.5 cm across. For the size of the piece, the few bruised crystals and periphery wear are certainly modest detractions. Contacting on the back, where crystals grew against other crystals, is out-of-sight. The imposing large piece displays dramatically from two sides. Some of the faces look like lustrous castle walls with multiple turrets having purple caps. Very showy material. 4.6 kilos or 10.1 pounds.
