Item Description

Pretty light pistachio-green, translucent, bladed, cuprian adamite aggregates are pleasingly and richly scattered on the large, 3-dimensional matrix of starkly contrasting white sugary, drusy calcite to an interesting knob on the upper left cover with isolated, scalenohedral calcites. Mining for silver, lead and copper and later zinc began at the ancient Lavrion District mines around 3200 BC. The base has been sawed to enhance the display. Mass is 2135 grams or 4.7 pounds. The adamite fluoresces neon lime-green and the calcite fluoresces pink under both LW and SW UV light. Ex Christos Spiromitros Collection and mined in 2017. A very fine, large, colorful and showy example from the historic and important locale.
